One of their key moments, the "Miracle at Richfield", saw Dick Snyder sink a buzzer beater to defeat the Washington Bullets, establishing themselves as a contender in the league. Another key highlight for the Cavs was signing future NBA MVP LeBron James in 2003, who led the charge to their first NBA Finals appearance in the 2006-07 season. Returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers after a stint with the Miami Heat, LeBron then led the Cavs to their first NBA Finals victory in 2016.
